ok so i need to be in bed in like 30 mins and i have to still get ready for tomorrow, so quick post.
first of all, the reason i have a new room now - hopefully by now you've seen the 2 videos, one of my old room and one of the one i'm in now and will be in until i leave - is because the first room was a temp. except they never told us. when we got here the building we were all supposed to be in didn't have enough open spaces for us - and there are about 70 guys and 18 girls. so some of us got put into the guesthouses. except they never told us. and then one day they said, "oh, if you're living in building 22, you'll be moving tomorrow to building 2."
in retrospect, i like it here more, even though i don't have my own balcony, because all the other guys are here too so it's easier to get in touch with people instead of being isolated in a slightly bigger and nicer room on the other side of campus. in all actuality, my room is what i make of it, and for me this is my very personal space, and while i don't mind sharing it with people who want to visit, this is my sanctuary. my posters on the wall, my bed, my own bathroom, and my comfort zone. i can walk around naked in this room if i want and no one can A) see me or B) stop me. i realize it's selfish but it feels good to have this Rizwan zone that is only for Rizwan. i think a lot of it has to do with college - for all 5 years i had a roommate, and granted, he was always my age [a fellow Peer Leader, or RA for you non-Georgia Tech people], but it was space i did share with another person. and although there was that one summer when i had an apartment with 3 of my friends and i felt lonely as hell, and i told myself i would never get a one-bedroom apartment because it would be too boring and isolating, i'm wondering now if i'll feel the same way i do now when i get back to the States. while it would be nice to have my own place, i'm being realistic too, and one-bedrooms in Boston cost a buttload. 2-bedrooms, on the other hand, are much more affordable. eh. we'll see.
other things i promise i will write about soon:
- FRRO registration in Bangalore
- the rest of the weekend in Bangalore after the FRRO debacle
- going to JK in Bangalore
- the banyan tree =)
- training and our upcoming exam
- new cell phone [?]
you have a good night now, dear Reader.
